Our first show was today. It was local so there was only one other group in our class. They've been a scholastic group in years past, but apparently they switched to independent this year. They beat us by a few points, all right, good for them. I heard they had a bunch of college kids from the nearby top-notch university band.
Later, on the ride back home, mom says that the center marimbist for the group that beat us looked a lot like the guy who taught me how to play marimba (an alumnus from my highschool, is in aforementioned college band). Surely not, that's too weird.
I got home and checked the guy's facebook. It was him.
I'm competing against the person who taught me how to play.
