with love from a 16 year old whose friends all went to a youth outreach at a megachurch this weekend

Sensationalism and emotionalism are not Christianity. If people would actually study history and look at what the church used to and is supposed to be, nobody would feel the need to condescend to empty-headed teenagers using mosh pits and strobe lights under the guise of relevant "evangelism." Historical and biblical Christianity is a robust faith, a lifelong battle with one's sin, a lifestyle of heroically striving to love others, a virile and vibrant reliance upon God as the all-sufficient, amazingly merciful, indescribably powerful Savior. The story of the gospel is so much more exciting than rock concerts featuring vapid lyrics set to 3-note melodies with a pounding 4 on the floor.
So church leaders, whatever you're teaching the poor fools in my generation, stop. Will getting a t-shirt at a glorified religious grindfest save our souls? Seriously people.
